The vulnerabilities of centralized networks accelerate the transition to Web3which ensures unprecedented performance with innovative technologies such as BOCC security for sensitive data and artificial intelligence (AI) applications.

Let’s see all the details in this article.

Security and transparency: the cloud of the future is decentralized thanks to web3 and AI

As expected, centralized networks, once a pillar of the global digital infrastructure, are showing increasingly deep cracks. These systems, which are managed by a single entity, suffer from this structural vulnerabilities making them ideal targets for cyber attacks.

By 2024, the damage caused by cybercrime reached a staggering $10 trillion, affecting governments, businesses and individual users.

In other words, the centralization of data represents one critical risk for cyber security. With a single point of failure, a breach can compromise entire databases.

For example, recent breaches include AT&T, where customer data and call logs were compromised. Snowflake, where 700 million company data was stolen. RockYou24, true 10 billion unique passwords were compromised.

It is not only the private sector that is vulnerable: government and national infrastructure are also targeted. For example, 22 million records of the Office of Personnel Management in the United States and 1.1 billion biometric data of Indian citizens have been breached.

Despite investments of hundreds of billions of dollars in cybersecurity, attacks are increasing in both frequency and scope, underscoring the ineffectiveness of traditional systems.

Artificial intelligence, which is developing rapidly, requires secure access to sensitive data to deliver advanced applications. However, the computing power is required to process complex models cannot be met by consumer devices.

As a result, much of the work is moving to the cloud, where platforms like AWS process massive amounts of data.

The web3 solution: BOCC

However, the model mentioned above presents significant challenges. First of all for privacy and security, because users cannot verify that sensitive data is not being captured or manipulated.

Second, for runtime transparency: providers do not disclose key operational details, leaving users without tools to verify the service’s accuracy.

Finally for the any point of failure, that is, the privileged access that administrators require, creating risks of misuse or accidental breach.

Apple also highlighted these limitations in the recent launch of Apple Intelligence, stating that the traditional cloud model is no longer sustainable.

The transition to Web3 offers a radical alternative. BOCC (Blockchain-Orchestrated Confidential Cloud) platforms combine blockchain technologies with dedicated hardware to create more safe and transparent networks.

An excellent example is Super Protocol, an off-chain platform built on secure execution environments (TEE) and orchestrated entirely via on-chain smart contracts. This innovative architecture directly addresses the critical issues of traditional cloud.

In these cases, public smart contracts essentially allow users to verify that their data has been handled as promised, thus ensuring their security transparency.

In addition, the network ensures that the hardware, software and data are used correctly, whereby information recorded in the chain can be consulted by anyone.

Then, only the owners of the resources can access them via private keys, limiting exposure in case of compromise.

Applications that go beyond AI

While the artificial intelligence sector is the main beneficiary of BOCC platforms, their applications go beyond that.

Critical infrastructures such as electricity grids, digital voting systems and military defense can benefit from a more secure and decentralized system.

For example, in digital elections, the use of blockchain can ensure voter privacy and the integrity of the election process.

In the energy sector, a decentralized cloud can protect electricity grids from cyber attacks, providing more security safe and resilient resource management.

In other words, Web3 is not just a technological evolution, but a cultural transformation in data management.

The decentralized approach eliminates dependency on single points of failure and provides unprecedented security. The blockchain is no longer a promise for the future: it is already a reality, ready to redefine the way we interact with the cloud and with artificial intelligence.
