Shiba Inu leader promotes Web3 solutions like Shibarium in response to CrowdStrike’s global outage

Shytoshi Kusama, the enigmatic leader of the Shiba Inu ecosystem, has used the recent global CrowdStrike blackout to advocate for Web3 solutions, such as Shibarium, to decentralize critical infrastructure.

On July 19, a widespread technology failure brought flights to a standstill, crippled payment systems and disrupted healthcare. Additionally, it blocked access to Microsoft services. Experts are calling the development one of the most catastrophic IT mistakes ever.

Meanwhile, the root cause of the disruptions was traced to a faulty software update from CrowdStrike, a cybersecurity company that provides services to multiple industries. The flawed update caused extensive damage to Windows computers, leading to far-reaching technical glitches worldwide.

Shiba Inu leader responds

In the aftermath of this event, the Shiba Inu team has capitalized on the possibility of emphasizing the importance of decentralization. They emphasize the need to move away from reliance on centralized services and towards more resilient, community-driven solutions.

In a recent post on

The Shiba Inu leader believes the world needs a system that eschews dependence on a central authority, embraces decentralization and harnesses the power of Web3 technologies fundamentally designed to withstand Friday’s disruptions.

Additionally, Kusama stated that the current situation is exactly why the Shiba Inu team is advocating for people to “treat themselves” during their global tour.

He noted that the tour transcends mere symbolic promotion. Instead, it focuses on a paradigm shift from the traditional Web2 standard to a higher level of engagement that delivers security and innovation for customers, stakeholders and individuals.

Kusama proposes Web3 solution: Shibarium

Kusama noted that the Shiba Inu community’s decentralized network of innovators and enthusiasts have fortunately been busy developing solutions during the bear market. He emphasized that these solutions are specifically designed to mitigate the impact of catastrophic events such as this global power outage.

Particularly the Shiba Inu team launched its own blockchain Shibarium in August 2023. This blockchain has seen significant adoption in less than a year, recording more than 417 million transactions. Furthermore, Shibarium has an average block time rate of 5.0 seconds.

Additionally, Shibarium has forged important partnerships to improve the global tech space. In April, the Shiba Inu team joined the Content Delivery and Security Association (CDSA) to address AI-driven content challenges for members like Apple, Amazon and Netflix through Shibarium.

As the world grapples with the devastating consequences of CrowdStrike infrastructure failure, the Shiba Inu ecosystem wants to be at the forefront of the conversation to champion the vision of a Web3-powered future.
