The launch of Boundless’ stimulated test network marks Cryptto’s first real stress test for production-ready zero-knowledge infrastructure. With the Ethereum Foundation and Eigenlaer as Early Adopters, the Scramble to operationalize ZK certificates in chains officially started.
According to a press release that will be shared on July 15 with Crypto.News, Boundless Network has focused its Mainnet Bèta on Coinbase’s Base Blockchain, introduced what it calls the first “Universal” Zero-Knowledge Protocol.
Supported by the ZKVM of Risc Zero, the stimulated test network has already attracted participation of major players, including the Ethereum Foundation, Wormhole and Eigenlaer – an unusual show of early trust for a project that is still in beta.
The rollout also introduces the proof of verifiable work, a new mechanism that rewards participants for the generation and validation of ZK certificates, so that a decentralized marketplace is effectively created for computational integrity.

Mechanics Behind Boundless’ Zero-Knowledge Gambit
Boundless positions itself as a decentralized marketplace where block chains, developers and miners come together to trade verifiable calculation. Powered by Risc Zero’s ZKVM, the protocol acts as a universal layer of proof, allowing each chain to unload complex calculations while retaining cryptographic certainty.
Think of it as a confidential outsourcing hub: instead of verifying each blockchain that verify the same data, they can now share evidence about networks, reducing costs and latency.
The limitless beta launch is important because a ZK system is being tested for the first time under real economic conditions. Previous implementations, or ZKEVMs, co-processors or privacy chains are isolated. Boundless flips the script by stimulating a decentralized network of evidence generators and validators, making it a live marketplace for zero knowledge.
“MAINNET BETA makes every protocol on every blockchain possible to access best-in-class decentralized ZK infrastructure for generating evidence, aggregation, availability of data and settlement, driven by Boundless,” said Shiv Shankar, CEO of Boundless Network.
Proof of verifiable work
The core of Boundless’ beta is proof of verifiable work, a radical deviation from traditional mining. POVW rewards participants for verifying zero knowledge certificates within a ZKVM. High-quality GPU owners, whether they are institutional miners or independent operators, can now earn reimbursements by validating computational integrity, not by brutal-forcinghasheshes.
In addition to coordinating stimuli, this mechanism could reform the labor economy of crypto. By binding rewards to prove complexity and speed, Boundless creates a meritocratic system where the most efficient miners earn the most.
Early participants also receive allocations of $ ZKC, Boundless’ native token, prior to the official launch later this year. The exact distribution depends on the complexity, volume and speed of completed evidence. According to the press release, the tokentameration event for $ ZKC is planned for later in 2025.
