Opside is renamed “Lumoz” and promises to popularize ZK Rollup technology

As part of its strategy to position itself at the forefront of the ZK Rollup-as-a-Service movement, Opside has announced that it has made the decision to rename itself ‘Lumoz’, which is a play on the Latin word ‘Lumos’. , meaning light or brightness.

In a blog post on HackerNoon announcing the change, the Lumoz team explained that they have come a long way from their original focus on providing a platform for developers to build and build scalable ZK Rollup networks for their dApps. to be carried out. The project has since grown into an entire ecosystem around Rollapp technology, adding numerous features to facilitate easy implementation and launching several initiatives to popularize the technology.

So considering that the original name “Opside” was a play on the word “Operator,” and that Lumoz is now much more than just an operator, the timing of the rebrand makes a lot of sense, the team said. Add to that, they said the change will also help clear up confusion, as many people have wrongly assumed the team is working on “Optimistic Rollups,” as opposed to ZK Rollups.

Lightspeed Progress

Lumoz is an apt name considering it has made such rapid progress this year. The project was only launched in 2022 with the mission to accelerate the adoption of ZK-Rollup technology and make it more accessible and user-friendly. The ZKRaaS offering gives developers an easy way to create custom zkEVM application chains on top of Layer-1 blockchains that use ZK Rollups to scale their dApps.

Lumoz was able to get its initial, pre-Alpha-boosted testnet up and running in double the speed, which was launched in late May to enable one-click functional deployment of zkEVM application chains. It has also launched the ZK-Rollup Launchbase, which makes it possible to effortlessly deploy different types of ZK-Rollups on different base chains. It has also added support for Ethereum, BSC and Polygon testnets, and developed modular components such as DA/shared sequencers.

That astonishing progress has been accompanied by impressive growth, with Lumoz now counting more than 240,000 users, some 25,000 validators and more than 100 miners all contributing to its network, while more than 15 custom zkEVM application chains have been deployed .

In one of the most recent announcements, the Decentralized Prover Network was launched, allowing it to provide the underlying computing resources for ZKP calculations, allowing the projects building on the platform to focus solely on their own activities. In this way, it has significantly reduced operating costs for teams looking to implement ZK-Rollup technology.

Another major development was the introduction of Lumoz’s two-step algorithm ZKP, which reduced the minimum CPU and GPU requirements for network miners, who are incentivized to provide this computing power to Lumoz. Looking ahead, Lumoz said it will aim to further optimize its algorithm to encourage more miners to support its network.

What is the future for Lumoz?

The rest of 2023 promises to be a hectic time for everyone involved with the project, as it has set several new targets for the milestone. Before the year is out, it plans to add improved functionality to the ZK-Rollup Launchbase platform that launched just a few months ago. Lumoz explained that the platform actually only offers the most basic functionality for developers, and that it plans to transform it into something much more comprehensive, with the addition of more modular components at the top of the to-do list.

Further expansion of the ecosystem is also on the menu, with Lumoz indicating that it plans to add support for Scroll, StarkNet and other networks before this year is out.

Then there are plans in store to grow the ecosystem, which currently has nearly 100 different crypto projects in segments such as NFTs, GameFi, and DeFi. The Lumoz team promised to continue actively looking for new opportunities to collaborate on high-quality projects. As always, the goal of these collaborations is to help projects scale their dApps and grow their user base to accelerate ZK-Rollups adoption.

Lumoz will also continue to ensure its voice is heard within the broader crypto community with its continued participation in key events, hackathons, workshops and more.
