A man from Nevada has been sentenced to the prison for cheating the government of millions of dollars by stealing US treasury checks and the identity of their rightful recipients.

The United States law firm for the Utah district says that 41-year-old Kyle Eugene Duncan-Carle was sentenced to 72 months in prison after he has admitted that he committed banking fraud.

Authorities say that between January and September 2023, Duncan-Carle stolen American Treasury chips that had already been made to people or companies and stolen their identity to open credit associations under their name. According to the public prosecutors, he then deposited the checks to withdraw the funds.

All in all, Duncan-Carle admitted that he had stolen at least eight Treasury chips of a total of $ 7.97 million.

Ultimately, the authorities say that the victims, including the US government, financial institutions and an insurance provider, have contracted $ 3.49 million in losses.

The punishment of Duncan-Carle also includes five years of accompanied release after his six-year-old Stint behind bars and an order to pay back to his victims.

He was reportedly arrested last year in Lyon County, Nevada and accused of bank fraud, worsened identity theft and receipt of stolen government property.
