Charles Hoskinson Post Quantum Plan Unveiled, Supported by Google and Microsoft Research

  • Charles Hoskinson unveils post-quantum security plan for Cardano with research support from Google and Microsoft.

  • Hoskinson says Nightstream can replace zero-knowledge systems without major changes to the Cardano core network.

  • The Cardano Nightstream project focuses on quantum-resistant encryption using fast lattice-based cryptography systems for blockchain.

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson’s post-quantum plans bring quantum cryptography into focus as the network prepares for future quantum computing risks.

Hoskinson revealed that Cardano is working with experts affiliated with Google, Linux groups and Microsoft Research, aimed at preparing the blockchain for future quantum computing threats.

Charles Hoskinson publishes quantum plans with Google and Microsoft

On February 13, Charles Hoskinson shared details about a post-quantum program called Nightstream at Consensus Hong Kong. Its post-quantum strategy includes close collaboration with researchers affiliated with major tech companies such as Google, Linux Communities and Microsoft Research.

The goal is to develop encryption that can remain secure even as quantum computers become powerful enough to break current cryptographic standards.

He described Nightstream as a future-proof replacement for Cardano’s existing zero-knowledge systems. The system is designed so that it can be added as needed, without requiring major changes to the core structure of the Cardano network.

Post Quantum Crypto Explained: Why Nightstream Matters

The Nightstream system uses lattice-based cryptography, a newer type of security method. Meanwhile, this type of encryption is considered more secure against future quantum computer attacks. Most blockchains today still use older elliptic curve systems.

Furthermore, Hoskinson stated that the system is fast, scalable and runs efficiently on AI chips. This makes it practical for real-world blockchain use.

Hoskinson on Post Quantum Google Microsoft Collaboration

Speaking further about Hoskinson on post-quantum Google Microsoft collaboration, he emphasized that quantum risk is not just a blockchain problem, but a global technology problem. Large companies and universities are already investing heavily in research to prepare for this shift.

After quantum planning, Charles Hoskinson suggests that it will be years before quantum computing becomes a serious risk.

However, by developing Nightstream early, Cardano aims to stay prepared for post-quantum cryptography rather than reacting to pressure in the future.
