Two American legislators have launched a dual “Congressional Crypto Caucus” in an attempt to promote a policy agenda of digital assets.
House representative Ritchie Torres (D-NY) and Tom Emmer (R-MN) say in a press release that the caucus “open, permissionless and private innovation in the United States will defend.”
“The Crypto Caucus will help promote a policy agenda aimed at the following:
- Promotion of transparency and open participation encouraging open-source development and permissionless access to blockchain networks to promote responsibility, innovation and inclusiveness.
- Expansion of economic opportunities – support for policy that promotes financial autonomy, digital property rights and broader access to innovative financial aids.
- Strengthening national security and global competitiveness – ensuring that the US leads in determining worldwide digital assets standards, improving transparency and tackling illegal financial worries.
- Improving consumer protection and financial inclusion – encouraging clear, transparent regulations that protect consumers, promote financial literacy and expand fair access to financial services.
- Provide regulatory clarity-a balanced, developing framework based on principles that promotes legal certainty and encourages responsible innovation. “
Emmer, who as a majority Whip is the third-ranking order Republican in the house, says that the new Caucus was designed to reach the will of pro-Crypto voters.
“The crypto caucus will serve as a united voting block in the congress – a non -party -bound group of members ready to mobilize and defend permissionless and private innovation in the United States.”
