The software developer who is behind bars because of his involvement in the Crypto Mixing Protocol Tornado Cash will be released conditionally from prison.
In a message on social media platform X, Alexey Ptsev says that he will be out on Friday after a Dutch court has decided to suspend his pretrial detention.
He says he should wear an electronic monitor as a condition for his release.
“Dear friends, I will be free on Friday 7 February at 10 am! It is not real freedom, but it is better than the prison. “
PTSEV is one of the developers of Tornado -Contant Money, the popular currency mix service that the American Treasury Department sanctioned in 2022.
In August 2022, Dutch authorities arrested PTSEV and accused him of helping Tornado Cash users to hide the proceeds from their criminal activities.
In May, the East Brabant court of the Netherlands sentenced PTSEV to five years and four months in prison for money laundering of more than $ 2 billion in funds.
The developer has lodged an appeal and has submitted a petition to give him a bail. This week’s development will enable him to challenge his conviction without the restrictions on imprisonment.
“This gives me the chance to work on my attraction and to fight for justice. Thank you to everyone who supported me and who made this possible! “
