Glenlivet Distillery Combines Ethereum NFTs and AI in Whiskey Collection

The Glenlivet, a celebrated distillery in Speyside in northeast Scotland, has launched a 50-year whiskey collection to commemorate its 200th anniversary. However, additives to this pure drink include blockchain technology through NFTs and use generative AI for label design, checking all the hype boxes of recent years.

Titled ‘The Twelve Elements’, the collection pays tribute to the twelve essential components that shape Glenlivet’s famous single-malt whisky. Cask expert Kevin Balmforth explained that the whiskeys that make up the collection are among the brand’s oldest official releases.

Balmforth also calls the release innovative and highlights the distillery’s embrace of technology while honoring its rich heritage. “This ultra-rare collection represents a look into the future, offering whiskey lovers around the world a glimpse into the evolution of luxury investing,” he said, as reported by Decanter.

Each bottle in ‘The Twelve Elements’ collection is linked to a unique NFT on the Ethereum blockchain, available through The Whiskey Exchange’s Cabinet marketplace. These NFTs serve as digital certificates and guarantee irrefutable proof of ownership, strengthening their appeal to whiskey collectors. And generative AI was used to design unique labels that adorned each bottle, with unique designs based on the element in question.

The release extends a broader shift in the NFT landscape, where experts anticipate a growing emphasis on utilities and real-world applications. If Declutter Previously reported, experts like Pedro Herrera, head of research at DappRadar, believe there is an ongoing change taking place in the dynamics of the NFT space.

“Collectibles that we were so used to in 2021, like Bored Apes and CryptoPunks, have slowed down,” Herrera shared Declutter in an earlier interview. “People are starting to understand the real concept behind NFTs, which is proving ownership, authenticity, etc.”

Other major brands such as Mastercard, Budweiser and Nike are also exploring this potential. In addition to the appeal of NFTs as unique digital items, companies have explored ways to use decentralized solutions to increase transparency and traceability and combat counterfeiting and counterfeits.

An auction for the Glenlivet “The Twelve Elements” collection will begin on February 21, with prices expected to top $43,000 (or 16.4032 ETH). Each bottle will ship later this summer with a digital certificate.
