New court documents show that the plaintiffs in the Dogecoin (DOGE) lawsuit against Elon Musk accuse the billionaire of using a “bottomless war chest” to fund an intimidation campaign against them.
Into a new one submitEvan Spencer, the attorney representing prosecutors against Musk who allege he defrauded investors in promoting the memecoin DOGE, says Musk and his attorney Alex Spiro are using “illegitimate” tactics to discredit him and his clients.
According to Spencer, in an earlier New York Post article, which was subsequently distributed to other outlets, Spiro attacked Spencer’s competence as a lawyer and claimed that he lied when he accused Musk of owning portfolios linked to DOGE.
Spencer also claims Spiro leaked a private letter between them to the Post. The letter was sent to Spencer by Spiro, claiming that the allegations against Musk were baseless.

Following the Post article, which was brought to my attention by one of my clients, I had to allay the fear and doubt it caused my clients about this matter. It appears defendants are using their bottomless war chest to fund an unlawful campaign of intimidation against me and my clients.”
In late June, Spencer attempted to remove Spiro as Musk’s attorney over the leaked letter, saying at the time that it “violated a host of ethical rules.”
Musk was originally sued in June 2022 by a group of investors who claimed their financial losses were caused by the business tycoon manipulating DOGE’s price.
