Google rolls out a privacy-oriented upgrade to its wallet service that uses zero kennks (ZKP) technology for age verification, according to a release.
The company said that the dating app Bumble will include one of the first partners to use this system. Bumble uses digital IDs issued via Google Wallet for user verification, while ZKPS will handle the age confirmation.
With the move, users can prove that they are old enough to access certain apps or websites without revealing their date of birth or personal identification data. ZKP is one of the largest use cases for block chains, apart from Real-World assets and payments, although it still has to find popularity outside of niche circles.
Google said that the system was developed in response to the growing number of services required for age controls, from dating platforms to e-commerce and social media. “We wanted to develop a system that not only verifies age, but also in a way that protects your privacy,” said it.
The ZKP -Cryptographic method allows someone to prove a fact (such as older than 18) without revealing how they know or more information.
Traditional ID-based age verification methods, on the other hand, often require the unveiling of documents or date of birth issued by the government, creating privacy and data safety risks.
This is done using a complex blockchain-based system that performs a condition (such as age) in a encrypted form, generates proof and can verify an external system with the help of public keys, so that privacy is guaranteed without exposing the underlying information.
The implementation is now live in Google Wallet and works on mobile devices and apps using Google’s Digital Credential API, which means that it can be embedded in sites and platforms of third parties.
On an average of 1.7% on an average of 1.7% has risen in the last 24 hours, according to data from the Coetecko sector. The sector could be a person to keep an eye on, because giants such as Google ZKP technology are taking on -bringing the question of the privacy -first sector that has generally fallen from investors in recent years.
