This time last year we reported:
“…of the $7.1 billion that was distributed Web3 companies in 2022, the gaming category will absorb 62% of them!”
Since then, we’ve been waiting anxiously for something (anything!) to come out and find traction.
And our hope this past week were not answered, but instead of plagued by:
Palworld – also known as “Pokemon, with guns.”
(This thing came out of nowhere and promptly sold seven million copies within a week).
Stupid name, yes. Are you dealing with possible copyright infringements? Double yes.
Web3 integrated? No (😫).
But here’s where the “troubled hope” comes in: Palworld was created by a guy who made his early fortune in crypto, which has caused a flurry of speculation about whether the game will integrate NFTs.

And Palworld’s creators will have to answer some bigger questions first, like:
How do these characters not hinder the Pokemon Company’s intellectual property? (Because there are some nice ones close calls here).
