After paradise, USURPA Gallery and Art of Superwoman have teamed up to curate a showcase for August 2023, in tribute to South Africa’s Womxn’s Month. This curated artistic journey aims to entertain, educate and inspire through a wide variety of immersive activities that bridge the worlds of art, technology and inclusivity.

Taking technology and innovation to the next level, After Paradise is rewriting the rules for conventional art exhibitions. This is done by orchestrating distinctive and compelling encounters that artfully blur the line between artistic expression and technological marvels.

Despite being the minority, many women have contributed significantly to the crypto and NFT space, excelling in roles as investors, developers, artists, and entrepreneurs. USURPA and Art of Superwoman intend to continue to promote this through education, mentorship, and inclusivity initiatives that go beyond just Womxn’s Month.

From awe-inspiring virtual reality installations to intellectually stimulating artist panels, After Paradise is a beacon of creative diversity, showcasing the vast spectrum of digital art forms.

The event included a duo of exhibitions, starting with “In The Clouds” on August 9, a tribute to Women’s Day, followed by “Down To Earth” on August 19. In addition to these engaging exhibitions, a series of workshops were organized on AI, blockchain technology, soft skills and identity, and much more.

Abieyuwa EigboboFounder, artist and curator of the event now spoke to nft for a behind-the-scenes look at the exhibitions and South African women artists.

Abieyuwa Eigbobo says the event started as just an idea, and it was great to see the result of all our hard work.

“After months of planning and hard work, it was so mind-blowing to see that we, After Paradise, were not only able to put on two exhibitions, several workshops and panels, but also to see how many people came out to support this woman’s art.”

Highlighted were the remarkable works of art created by 27 exceptionally talented South African women artists, many of whom identified this as a pivotal moment in their careers.

“It was great to be part of an event. From my experience, there haven’t really been many local events where digital art is showcased. This made me appreciate the Womxn’s Month event even more, especially because it was personal, so even my family could come and see my digital art,” said artist Mpho Jacobs. “This was really needed in the South African creative space, and I hope it continues and expands in the future.”

This event also provided the chance for countless crypto-curious artists to join Web3. Hoping not only to broaden their digital horizons, but also to open doors to new avenues for their art in the digital marketplace.

“Elevating these women and highlighting their unique creative practices has made me very excited about the change afoot in the art world,” said artist and director Hakeem Kae-Kazim. “The NFT sphere is not a space I’m very familiar with, but it’s been very interesting to see the development of this new field and where it can go.”

Eigbobo emphasizes that this event is not a one-off, but will lead to many future initiatives. “I am extremely grateful to USURPA, SAMSUNG South Africa and Art of Superwoman for partnering with us at this event, and I look forward to creating more experiences with them.”
