The stimulated test network (Mainstet beta) of the boundless network of Risc Zero went live on the base yesterday.
Boundless is not a new blockchain. Boundless is a marketplace for zero-knowledge virtual machine (ZKVM) evidence–also a proof-market that can be used on every network and can be proven anywhere.
Who needs it? Every chain or application that wants to process heavy calculation, but whose existing virtual environment is not suitable for utilizing ZK technology.
Boundless let teams do this without making radical changes to their architecture. Just like how Chainlink brought price feeds to every chain, Boundless brings verifiable calculation.
Boundless Network
Here is how the network works roughly:
- CHAINS/APPS Questions and send calculation tasks in the boundless network with auctions on his contracts.
- “Provers” (miners) on the boundless network with CPUs/GPUs claim these tasks to perform the expensive calculation off-chain.
- To accept tasks, use Stake ZKC tokens to lock a request for evidence. These tokens are slanted, so there is an economic mechanism to keep work honest.
- When proverbs finish the task, a small, mathematical-verifiable zero-knowledge-proof (ZKP) will be established on the host chain.
Because verifying a small proof of the size on Ethereum or a Rollup only costs a minimal amount of gas, the base chain never feels the warmth of the underlying calculation even if that calculation lasted minutes, a cluster with GPUs or gigabytes of data.
Boundless’ CEO Shiv Shankar reminded me of the priceless costs for running ZK -Berkekens -Onchain, which can reach thousands of dollars.
“Nowadays anyone can do that huge calculation with a ZKVM for less than $ 30. This kind of boundless mindset is what we bring to every chain. Elastic unlimited calculation [is] Available for you at any time, “he said.
The Boundless Explorer today shows 363 active spokes that process jobs, although the team told me that they anticipate at least a thousand GPUs who prove quickly.
Boundless Architecture
Unique for Boundless’ Network is his self -developed cryptographic primitive called “Proof of Verfelable Work” (POVW).
Bitcoin miners pays traditional proof-of-work for Hashes, Boundless’ POVW pays for useful ZKVM Cycli.
POVW tags pieces of verifiable metadata – or “work receptions” – for each proof as a report of how much calculation has been submitted. This allows Goundless to pay the hundreds of spokes on his network in proportion to the actual calculation, and detect fraudulent evidence.
This contrasts with the off-chain auction that offers that concise applications, or the time-based quotes that Kalypso uses.
Today’s adoption
Early Adopters of boundlessly include teams such as self -layer, Celestia, Taiko, Lido and more.
Teams use a boundless provision of verifiable accounts for different purposes.
Self-layer, for example, uses Boundless to raise its AVS-Slash logic, Celestia uses it to prove the validity of his data availability on each chain, the Taiko-based rollup uses it as part of his multi-pro-setup and Lido Limitless for a ZK-Based Staked Staked.
