The Ministry of Communication and Digital of Indonesia has temporarily suspended the world (formerly WorldCoin) and its digital identity platform, World ID, with reference to registration problems and possible violations of the rules for local electronic system.

According to a statement of 4 May, the ministry confirmed that it had suspended the registration certificate of the electronic system organizer (TDPSE) for both Worldcoin and World ID. This suspension came after the Bureau Inconsistencies discovered in how the project in the country operated.

The Ministry noted that one of the local affiliated companies of WorldCoin, PT Terang Bulan Abadi, could not register as a recognized electronic system organizer.

This status is mandatory for every digital platform that wants to work legally in Indonesia. Instead, the project reportedly carried out its activities under the license of another company, PT Sandina Abadi Nusantara, which expressed concern about the abuse of identity and compliance with compliance.

The director -general of Digital Space Supervision, Alexander Sabar, said that the ministry will call both entities to investigate further. He noted that this step is preventive and planned to protect the public against possible damage that does not constitute non -registered digital service providers.

Sabar also emphasized that all digital platforms must take full responsibility for their activities and have to work transparently within the legal framework of the country.

Worldcoin’s progress

This suspension marks another legal obstacle for Worldcoin while it tries to expand its presence worldwide.

In the past year, the project has confronted with regulatory research of Authorities in different countries, including Kenya, Germany and Hong KongThey have investigated his data collection practices.

Despite these setbacks, the platform recently produced remarkable growth by expanding its identity verification system to the United States.

The service is now available in six cities, including Atlanta, Austin, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville and San Francisco, where residents can verify their identity as people through the world -id.

In addition, World has also announced partnerships with companies such as Visa, Tinder, Kalshi and Morpho to explore new applications for his technology and to stimulate broader acceptance.
