A new account that makes its way through the legislative power of New York would enable residents to pay government agencies with crypto.
New York State Assemblyman Clyde Vanel (D-Reens) introduced Assembly Bill A7788 on Thursday and the potential legislation was referred to the Permanent Committee for Government Activities.
If adopted, the bill would enable all government agencies to conclude agreements with individuals to receive crypto payments for fines, civil fines, rent, rates, taxes, costs, costs, income and/or financial obligations.
Other states have also taken similar steps. In 2022, Colorado became the first state to accept Crypto for tax payments, and last September Louisiana enabled its residents to pay for state services with digital assets. Similar accounts are also bubbled in California and Florida.
Vanel introduced similar accounts in 2017, 2019, 2021 and 2023. The legislator, which has a long history of supporting crypto-related legislation, also recently introduced the assemblage book 7716, which would lead the New York State of Elections to protect the use of BlockChain technology technology.
If adopted, the bill would require that the state council of elections must submit a report on blockchain technology to the governor and the legislative power within a year after the legislation that is in force.
