Binance’s mining pool platform has announced that it is now handing out rewards denominated in a memecoin created by Dogecoin (DOGE) creator Billy Markus.
Binance pool say it has now launched the merged mining of Bellscoin (BEL).
The users of the mining platform can now mine Litecoin and earn rewards in LTC, BEL or DOGE.
Markus created the Animal Crossing-inspired Bellscoin in 2013, eight days before Dogecoin launched, according to the project’s developers. website. It was revived in 2023.
The Bellscoin website explains,
“Bells coin has no association with Nintendo’s ‘Animal Crossing’. This coin simply pays tribute to a meme we all love and recognize. Bells is a meme coin with no intrinsic value or expectation of financial return. There is no formal team or step-by-step plan. The coin is completely useless and intended for entertainment purposes only.”
Despite being offered as a mining reward, Bellscoin is not currently listed on Binance for trading.
BEL is trading at $0.903 at the time of writing. The crypto asset ranked 721st by market capitalization has fallen more than 5% in the past 24 hours.
DOGE is trading at $0.115 at the time of writing. The ninth-ranked crypto asset by market capitalization has fallen more than 8.5% in the past day.
LTC is trading at $66.73 at the time of writing. The 25th-ranked crypto asset by market capitalization has fallen nearly 4% in the past 24 hours.
