SYNTAX: It’s like ChatGPT, but it writes web3 apps for you…

TL; DR

  • The SYNTAX LLM will compile, test and deploy Ethereum-based smart contract code, based on your natural language prompts.

Full story

Remember last week when we wrote about an AI model that lets you code Web3 apps with your voice?

The basic idea was this:

Ava Labs, the team behind Avalanche, is working to build an AI interface that takes natural language prompts (written or spoken) and returns smart contract code (which powers Web3 applications).

The only problem was:

The technology was still thought to be a decade away.

That may still be true for the team at Ava Labs – but we just learned that the situation is a little different at a place called Spectral Labs, where they already have a natural language coding model both live and in the field!

The platform is called SYNTAX, and in short:

You indicate your intent and SYNTAX does the rest: compiling, testing and deploying Ethereum-based smart contract code.

It is said to allow users to build a DAO without coding knowledge, write logic for Web3 games, and create memecoins with ease.

Is it perfect?

No.

In fact, we mention what we saw in some of them demos “natural language” is a tall order – it seems like you still need to have a pretty good handle on blockchain coding terminology to be able to write a successful prompt.

(For example, ‘Write a contract that calls the UniswapV2Router02 contract and retrieves the factory address’ ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ).

But it’s undoubtedly a huge efficiency gain for blockchain developers, a useful stepping stone for those curious about cryptocoding, and at the very least:

Very cool!
