“Ordinal Numbers Are Not Dead:” MetaGood’s Danny Yang talks about recursive inscriptions Impact

Bitcoin Ordinals were the topic of conversation on Crypto Twitter in the first half of 2023. As the initial enthusiasm surrounding them has begun to sink in, many are curious about its future, with questions such as: “What happened to the orange backgrounds?” CEO and co-founder of Metagood Danny Yang, a prominent voice in the industry, has come forward to claim that Bitcoin Ordinals is far from being forgotten. Instead, they are a testament to the evolving nature of digital assets and the potential they continue to offer.

As a pioneer of recursive inscriptions and an innovator in blockchain technology, Yang now spoke to nft about the continued potential of Ordinals. He and his team now also gave nft a glimpse into the intricate technological craftsmanship for the latest collaboration with Asprey Studio.

Drawing on more than a decade of experience in Bitcoin-related endeavors, including the founding of the Stanford Bitcoin Meetup and Maicoin, Taiwan’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, Yang recognizes the transformative potential that the Ordinals protocol brings to the Bitcoin marketplace. ecosystem.

My tweet “Bitcoin Ordinals is dead.💀” got 10x more engagement than usual. Does this mean Ordinals isn’t dead?

Maybe Bitcoin is dead and Ordinals is reviving it.

Either way, digital artifacts are a new asset class and Bitcoin is now both a store of value and a medium for art.

OCM Dimensions: the first collection to launch Recursions

Metagood created OnChainMonkey Dimensions, one of the first 10k PFP projects on Bitcoin and the first Recursive Inscription collection. Showcasing the power of Ordinals, OCM Dimensions acts as a groundbreaking art collection, demonstrating the innovative use of recursion, composability, and compression on the Bitcoin blockchain.

Enrolled in February 2023, OCM Dimensions represents a groundbreaking example of Bitcoin inscriptions. It defies convention by displaying high-resolution 3D animation art that scales with the display size while keeping the file size remarkably small.

It has successfully optimized block space efficiency, with the ordinal of each dimension occupying less than 1 kilobyte. The first 300 dimensions are engraved on sequentially numbered satoshis from early January 2009, the third day of Bitcoin’s existence, and feature intricate 3D animations rendered directly from code written on Bitcoin.

The Bitcoin Ordinals Protocol is a significant advancement that allows for the creation, ownership and transfer of unique digital assets known as “inscriptions,” according to Yang. These inscriptions are linked to individual “ordinal numbers”, the smallest units of Bitcoin, and their ownership is linked to the owner of the corresponding ordinal number.

Yang is confident that protocol will be a new and impactful addition to the digital asset landscape that is not just a passing fad. He muses that this is just the beginning of the Bitcoin Ordinals era. “A huge potential of Bitcoin is being unlocked, and soon we will witness developers exploring, innovating and developing new applications and solutions.” Ordinals expert Leonidas disproves any idea that they are no longer relevant and reveals Ordinals constitute 84.9% of current activity on Bitcoin.

The engineering creation process behind the 3D generative art of the Asprey Bugatti Egg is a manifestation of the power of the Ordinals protocol, manifested through the innovative application of recursion and generative techniques.

In February 2023, Yang and the MetaGood team introduced this technique to the Asprey team, using code to generate intricate art and write it into the Bitcoin blockchain.

The same technique used in OCM Dimensions was instrumental in bringing the Asprey Bugatti Egg to life. As MetaGood’s Danny noted, the recursive inscription concept, a cornerstone of Bitcoin Ordinals, was “critical in enabling this feat.”

The Asprey Bugatti Egg Collection Will Launch Both Physically “objectand generative artwork, featuring 111 physical eggs linked to Bitcoin NFTs.

“The egg is both a physical and a digital item. It comes with the physical egg and the digital egg, where the digital artifact resides on Bitcoin.” Yang said.

The meticulous attention to detail is reflected in accurately recreating the dimensions of the physical egg using code. When asked how long it took to code the eggs, Yang says the team has been working with Asprey since February.

“I matched it exactly to the physical with a simple comparison with the same dimensions,” Yang added.

The MetaGood team says the eggs will be deployed and shipped to their owners in the coming weeks. No further information about the collection is available at the time of writing.
