In a surprising turn of events, a fake Ledger Live app on the Apple App Store caused losses totaling $9.5 million.
On April 14, blockchain researcher ZachXBT took to Telegram and highlighted that the theft affected more than 50 victims across “Bitcoin, EVM, Tron, Solana, and Ripple.”
That said, the illegal activities took place for a week, from April 7 to 13.

If reported by ZachXBTthe stolen funds were channeled through more than 150 KuCoin [KCS] deposit addresses linked to AudiA6, a centralized transaction mixer that covers up illegal funds by charging higher fees.
Commenting on the incident, the blockchain researcher noted:
I’m curious if this is grounds for a class action against Apple.
The losses suffered and the steps taken
In this theft, three victims faced huge losses worth ‘seven figures each’.
On April 8, one victim faced a loss of $1.95 million, with 20.64 BTC, 211 steTH, and 70 ETH at risk. Then on April 9, another victim lost $3.23 million in USDT. Finally, on April 11, a third victim lost $2.08 million in USDC.
Therefore, Apple removed the fake app from the App Store on April 12 to prevent further losses.

KuCoin is stealing the spotlight for all the wrong reasons
Needless to say, KuCoin has witnessed increased illegal activities in the past year. As previously reported by AMBCrypto, Bitcoin Depot recently lost $3.66 million. The stolen funds were transferred to KuCoin’s deposit addresses.
Moreover, the US government had also done so in January 2025 imposed fines of more than $300 million about the exchange “for violating AML laws.”
In February 2026, ZachXBT reported that the Austrian regulator had banned KuCoin from onboarding new EU users. Then, in late March 2026, Japan’s Financial Services Agency (FSA) also flagged KuCoin for operating without registration.
Overall, these incidents highlighted growing bad actor activity at the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center [IC3] recently reported $11.36 billion in crypto-related fraud losses.
Final summary
- More than 150 KuCoin deposit addresses linked to AudiA6 moved the stolen funds, leaving three victims to fall victim to this crypto theft.
- KuCoin has paid $300 million in fines to the US government over the past year.
