Timber Cladding Specialists, a building materials supplier, introduced a blockchain-based traceability system for timber cladding used in construction projects. The solution is designed to improve transparency in the sourcing and delivery phases.
Key data includes harvest location, certification details, processing stages and transportation routes. The information is stored in a distributed ledger and can be accessed by project stakeholders.
The blockchain layer is intended to strengthen documentation and audit processes. It can also support compliance with green building standards and reporting rules.
According to the company, the system has been applied to selected products, including thermally modified wood. Expansion to other materials is planned as part of the digital development strategy.
