Here’s one of those ‘only in web3’ features that is both innovative, interesting and complex.
AltLayer has just rolled out the second phase of its staking program, introducing the newly staked ALT token, ‘reALT’.
As a reminder, upon staking, investors hold onto their crypto with the promise of rewards (kind of like how bonds work).
reALT allows investors to participate in more than one staking pool, giving them exposure to other restocked rollup communities and incentives, without withdrawing from the main ALT stake pool.
The result: higher betting returns (i.e. a higher return on coin locking investment).
Staking is a fascinating innovation that can fund web3 platforms and guarantee a return for investors.
Restaking takes that concept to the next level!
So yeah, interesting stuff for those deep in the crypto space – and quite exciting for nerds like us – but these types of innovations are unlikely to be the ones that will get the masses involved in web3.
And that’s absolutely fine!
