EY (Ernst & Young), a global consulting and audit firm, has launched the EY Blockchain Privacy Sandbox, a web-based environment for testing privacy-based smart contracts on public blockchains. The platform is designed for developers and companies working with Ethereum Virtual Machine compatible systems.
The sandbox uses Starlight, an open source tool developed by EY, to convert standard Solidity contracts into privacy-compliant versions. This process preserves the original logic of the contract and adds confidentiality features. Developers can explore, customize, and build proof-of-concept applications within the environment.
The solution is intended for early stage experiments. Companies can test how privacy-preserving smart contracts perform, evaluate use cases, and validate technical feasibility before deploying the technology in production systems.
