Concordium announces its first Oracle integration with Umbrella to improve the security of Web3 infrastructure

In an important step to improve the security of the Web3 infrastructure, Concordium, a major player in the Web3 identification domain, has announced its first oracle integration in partnership with Umbrella. This partnership aims to improve the security and reliability of the platform and marks a crucial step towards the 2024 roadmap.

Concordium bridges blockchain with reality

Concordium, known for its Zero-knowledge ID framework that improves the creation of regulatory-compliant decentralized applications (dApps) while maintaining a balance between decentralization, security, scalability and regulatory compliance, has achieved a major milestone. It has successfully completed its first Oracle integration with the Umbrella Oracle.

Oracles act as vital bridges in the blockchain market, channeling external information and real-world events into smart contracts and dApps. This capability is essential because it allows these applications to function based on real-world data, effectively reaching beyond the intrinsic data limitations of the blockchain.

Oracles provide reliable data, allowing smart contracts to make informed decisions and take actions based on real-world context. This increases the blockchain’s ability to communicate and respond to external situations, increasing its scope and applicability in various real-world scenarios.

Oracles are essential for expanding blockchain applications beyond their inherent data limitations, allowing them to interact effectively with real-world scenarios. This is especially critical in areas like decentralized finance (DeFi), supply chain management, and other sectors. Oracles bring external and off-chain data to smart contracts and DApps on blockchains, improving interoperability between different networks. They support decentralization by providing data feeds that reduce dependence on centralized sources, increasing trust and reliability.

Oracles also ensure data security and integrity through methods such as cross-referencing and consensus checks. This functionality is crucial in several industries, including DeFi, insurance, and supply chain management. Additionally, some oracles are expanding their role by issuing native tokens for network participation and incentives.

Umbrella’s position in the Oracle sector, with its integration with Concordium, will drive developers and applications to use Concordium for business-oriented solutions. This synergy is expected to increase the number of transactions in the chain.

Umbrella Network’s robust Oracle services meet the requirements

Umbrella Network stands out as a versatile oracle that provides high-performance, customizable data solutions tailored to the diverse needs of decentralized applications (DApps). The comprehensive data package includes three main solutions:

  1. Data on the chain: This is ideal for lending protocols, safes, and TWAP (Time-Weighted Average Price) needs. This allows projects to set custom deviation triggers and heartbeat intervals, and integrate seamlessly with existing oracle systems to minimize changes to smart contracts.
  2. Data overview: This solution uses Merkle Tree technology and is perfect for projects that require large-scale, scalable data, such as prediction markets or regenerative finance (ReFi) projects. It can join thousands of data points and register them on-chain under a single unique Merkle root hash.
  3. Data on request: This solution is designed for decentralized exchanges (DEXs) in options and spot trading and allows projects to set their own parameters for receiving data.

In addition to its flexible data offering, Umbrella Network is a decentralized oracle owned by the community. The architecture makes it possible to offer various data sets from different sectors securely and without centralization. Unlike other oracles, Umbrella’s community-run decentralized Validator Network maintains data integrity and mitigates the risks of centralization.

Umbrella recognizes the critical importance of data infrastructure in global industries and is designed to avoid control by a centralized entity. Managed by a DAO Board in collaboration with a core team, Umbrella prioritizes a decentralized, democratic approach to the direction and implementation of the project, following the core of community governance.
