Asgard Upgrade, the first major technology update to the mainnet of the Layer-1 relational blockchain, will take place on December 3, according to Chromia, which officially announced the date of the upgrade. Chromia extensions are modular enhancements introduced with this upgrade. These extensions allow developers to add new features on top of the core platform, expanding functionality while maintaining the strengths of the current infrastructure.
Extensions allow developers to introduce specific functionality to the platform while maintaining its signature relational architecture, modular framework, and gas-free user experience. Chromia is a Layer-1 relational blockchain platform that uses a modular framework to provide users and developers with specialized decentralized application chains (dapp), customizable fee structures, and enhanced digital assets. Chromia provides native queryable data that is indexed in real time. This challenges the existing quo to bring innovations that will improve the end-user experience and support new Web3 business models. Chromia does this by fundamentally changing the way information is structured on the blockchain.
Alex Mizrahi, co-founder, commented on the impact of Extensions, saying:

First on the agenda is the Oracle Extension, which is expected to be released in early December. Real-time off-chain data integration is enabled directly into apps created on the platform, which was developed in collaboration with Stork, a renowned decentralized data provider. It is expected that this innovation, combined with recent developments in Chromia’s asset bridge and the integration of native CHR with exchanges, would drive greater economic activity and value growth across the network.
Using the network’s processing power, the AI Inference Extension, expected to be released in the first quarter of 2025, will provide support for on-chain AI model applications. This extension is designed to extend the platform’s function as a transparent data layer for decentralized artificial intelligence initiatives. These projects include projects supported by the Chromia Data and AI Ecosystem Fund, which was established earlier this year.
