AllDomains, a blockchain-based domain infrastructure provider, has announced the launch of .com domains on the Solana blockchain, expanding its hybrid domain model following the rollout of .id on Solana in 2024. This move brings the most widely used Web2 top-level domain into a Web3-compatible environment, while maintaining full compatibility with existing Internet infrastructure.
The on-chain .com domains remain ICANN-rooted and globally resolvable, meaning websites, DNS settings, hosting and email will continue to function without changes. At the same time, ownership is displayed on-chain, ensuring portability, programmability, and data transparency secured by Solana’s network.
For domain owners, the integration adds a layer of ownership on the chain without disrupting existing usage. Domains can be transferred faster, ownership can be publicly verified, and participation in global digital marketplaces becomes more efficient. In addition to commerce, on-chain .com domains can be used as portable digital identifiers for authentication, payments, and application access.
