The Minister of Economy of El Salvador says that Bitcoin Accumulation expresses an ‘important project’ despite IMF deal: report

Allegedly, a top official from El Salvador says that the purchases of Bitcoin (BTC) continue despite a loan agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in which it was called to scale them back.

According to a new report from Bloomberg, Maria Luisa Hayem, Minister of Economy of El Salvador, says that the country’s decision to collect Bitcoin does not stop as a spare walk.

“There is an obligation of it [El Salvador President Nayib] Bukele to continue to gather assets as a way to do exactly that …

Bitcoin continues to be an important project. There is an assets accumulation that we see from the perspective of the government, from the perspective of the private sector. ”

Questions about the Bitcoin purchasing of El Salvador have since received $ 1.4 billion in financing of the money lender established in Washington at the end of last year in exchange for commitments that include tax accounts and purchases of the Crypto Asset flagship.

However, the purchases do not seem to end from the loan conditions.

Earlier this week, the IMF discussed a question of Financial Software Company Ion Group in which it is asked how El Salvador is still collecting BTC, even though he agrees to stop making even more purchases as part of a loan agreement.

Rodrigo Valdes, the director of the Western Hemisphere Department of the IMF, said that despite recent Bitcoin purchases, the country still works within his “performance criteria” explained by the IMF.

“In terms of El Salvador, let me say that I can confirm that they will continue to meet their use of non-accumulation of Bitcoin by the general tax sector, what the performance criteria we have.

But moreover I think this is very important for the discussion in El Salvador. The El Salvador program is not about Bitcoin. It is much more, much deeper in structural reforms, in terms of governance, in terms of transparency. There is a lot of progress there. And also, on tax. And authorities have made a lot of progress to implement the reform. “
