Prisoner FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried reportedly hopes to secure a pardon by President Donald Trump.
The New York Times, with reference to ‘Six people with knowledge’, reports that Bankman has spoken with a lawyer who is affiliated with Trump, contacted DC lobbyists and interviewed Tucker Carlson in an attempt to set the president.
Crypto-lobbyists are doubtful that the efforts of the Chatter FTX founder will be successful, with one that tells Fortune that Bankman-Gefruurt had an “almost zero” chance to secure a pardon.
FTX Impremed and submitted bankruptcy in November 2022 in the midst of accusations that Bankman Vriedurded the funds of the stock market was wrong to borrow billions of dollars in customer deposits to Alameda Research, the company’s commercial arm.
The collapse of multi-billion dollars from the stock market led to a competitive rainfall in crypto prices, and American federal authorities arrested Bankman baked the following month.
An American judge sentenced the FTX founder to 25 years in prison last year after being convicted of fraud in 2023.
Earlier this year, the parents of Bankman-Fried, Stanford Law Law School Professors Joseph Bankman and Barbara Fried, reportedly met lawyers and other figures that were close to Trump to discuss potential clementie for their son.
Joseph Bankman even wrote an opinion piece in the Washington Post (with Berkeley Law Professor Mark Ggen) in which Trump’s plan is praised for an American sovereign wealth fund.
In January, Trump gained at Silk Road -Maker Ross Ulbricht and fulfilled a campaign bow to libertarian voters.
