Ripple has renewed its partnership with NYU Abu Dhabi to support blockchain research and innovation. This partnership aims to promote talent development, promote digital asset adoption and integrate blockchain technology into startups and established institutions in the UAE. Ripple has funded numerous grants and research projects through its UBRI program, demonstrating its commitment to driving innovation in the region.

Ripple’s funding from NYU Abu Dhabi exceeds $1 million

Digital asset infrastructure provider Ripple has renewed its strategic partnership with NYU Abu Dhabi through its University Blockchain Research Initiative (UBRI). Ripple’s partnership expansion will bring NYU Abu Dhabi’s total funding of research projects and student initiatives to more than $1 million.

According to a statement, Ripple’s latest partnership extension is part of its broader goal to deepen its presence in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Middle East. It also underlines the company’s commitment to nurturing talent, fostering innovation and driving digital adoption in the region.

Commenting on the infrastructure provider’s partnership extension announcement, Reece Merrick, Ripple’s Managing Director for the Middle East and Africa, said:

“The UBRI program plays a critical role in supporting cutting-edge research and academic research, and this continued collaboration is an example of Ripple’s commitment to driving transformative progress in digital finance.”

Merrick added that this expansion, along with the infrastructure provider’s partnership with the Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC) Innovation Hub, highlights Ripple’s aim to integrate blockchain technology into startups and established institutions in the UAE.

Boosting the ambitions of the UAE’s global financial hub

Meanwhile, Lauren Weymouth, Director of University Partnerships at Ripple, announced that the company funded some 313 grants and blockchain-related research projects in the past year alone. Weymouth added that the support for UBRI underlines Ripple’s commitment to advancing transformative projects and supporting the UAE’s vision to become a global financial center.

Raša Karapandža, visiting professor of economics at NYU Abu Dhabi, said Ripple’s UBRI program reinforces the educational institution’s commitment to driving innovation and fostering a progressive mindset within its academic community.

In addition to supporting initiatives in the UAE, Ripple has also provided funding to other institutions, including Morgan State University’s National Fintech Center, which received a $1.05 million grant, and the National University of Singapore’s Fintech Lab ( NUS) School of Computing, which was awarded $1 million.
