Bored Ape creator is giving away Bitcoin in Ordinals puzzle game

The creator of the Bored Ape Yacht Club is promising puzzles, prizes and Bitcoin with its latest initiative. Yuga Labs grew up around the TwelveFold generative art collection launched a series of number puzzles inspired by the Bitcoin-based artwork – and where Bitcoin is distributed to the participants as a prize.

“The TwelveFold puzzles stay true to the inspiration behind the collection: the relationship between time, math and variability,” said the company today.

TwelveFold is a generative art collection of 300 pieces on which to build Ordinals, the protocol that allows users to “enroll” NFT-like artwork and other assets on the Bitcoin blockchain. Although the auction in March did yield some criticism within the crypto space, Yuga Labs managed to raise approximately $16.5 million from the primary sale through 288 successful bidders.

In February, we launched TwelveFold, 300 unique generative works of art on the Bitcoin blockchain.

Today we’re launching a series of art-inspired number puzzles at https://t.co/AAG3qFHvcR.

Symbolic of how data is stored on the Bitcoin blockchain, Yuga said: Twelvefold artworks are 12×12 grids that combine 3D graphics and hand-drawn features. These works of art, which are engraved on individual satoshis (the smallest value of a Bitcoin), form the basis for the newly launched puzzle series.

Starting today, Yuga Labs will release one “Moon Puzzle” for people to try and solve every week for 12 weeks, offering 0.12 Bitcoin (currently about $3,090) as a prize to the first correct guesser for each weekly puzzle.

However, in the 13th week, the Moon will be replaced by the “Sun Puzzle”. reward the winner with one of the TwelveFold Ordinals. TwelveFold pieces currently start at a price of around 0.9 BTC (approximately $23,150) on the Magic Eden secondary marketplace.

Each puzzle can be solved by anyone, not just TwelveFold asset owners. However, Yuga Labs teased in the news report that TwelveFold holders can “expect something coming your way soon.”

To participate, users need an Ordinals Bitcoin wallet such as Xverse or Unisat. Players can then head over to the TwelveFold website, download a puzzle, and let their creative (or logical) minds get to work. Replies are submitted by submitting them to the chain via satoshis, so the submission process will live forever on the Bitcoin blockchain.

There can only be one winner per puzzle, Yuga saidwhich added that tax forms are required to claim the prize money. In the event of simultaneous correct answers ending up in the same block, the winner will be determined by the one with the lowest entry number.

However, the competition can be fierce, as Yuga’s website already does shows that today’s puzzle is solved.
