That’s pretty much what Snoop Dogg’s latest ‘Passport’ NFT does, but instead of being built around a social account, it’s built around his latest tour.
The Passport NFTs currently cost around 0.0025 ETH (around $43), with each user gifting an additional piece of curated artwork from some of Snoop’s favorite artists.
Can something like this be duct taped together using Web2 tools?
Sure, the exclusive content, merchandise, event tickets, and playlists absolutely could.
But Web3 solutions aren’t about reinventing the wheel, they’re about adding cool new features to what we’re already used to.
In this case, the cool new features offered by NFTs are:

Platform agnostic. (That is, they don’t rely on a platform like Facebook, Twitter, or TikTok to survive).

negotiable. Each Passport NFT is a digital asset that can grow in value and be sold quickly in the open market.

Easy to make. Whether you’re a big name like Snoop, or an unknown artist – creating a digital asset that meets the above criteria using Web2 technology would be a HUGE undertaking. (both in time and money).
That’s all built-in. Now it’s up to Snoop to put enough value on each NFT for the project to be a success.
