  • Senator Cynthia Lummis promised a tax change to remove tax burden that related to crypto use.
  • Her proposal was supported by interest groups in the top industry.

The US Senator Cynthia Lummis has proposed an amendment to offer tax reduction to crypto traders and Bitcoin [BTC] miners.

Via an X (formerly Twitter) after On June 30, Lummis promised to ensure that Americans use crypto without worrying about the tax “.

“I am working on an OBBB amendment to ensure that Americans can use digital assets without fear of tax violations. More soon!”

Republicans in the Senate push the controversial reconciliation law known as the OBBB, or ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’.

Currently, the debate bill as legislators is making proposals and voting over the key changes Prior to a floor voice planned before July 4.

“Miners and strikers are taxed twice”

Lummis denied the current tax regime for ‘double taxation’ of crypto, miners and validator operators. She stated”

“For years, miners and strikers have been taxed twice. Once when they receive block rewards, and again when they sell it.”

She added that it is “time to stop unfair tax treatment” to make the vision of President Donald Trump to make America the BTC and Crypto -Supperkracht of the world.

For Perspective, Currently, the US Internal Revenue Service (IRS) treats Mining, commitment, crypto payment receipts and airdrops as normal income and subject to the typical income tax rate.

Typical use such as buying a coffee via crypto can activate a taxable event.

Moreover, selling the same assets later in the power gain tax – the users effectively taxes twice. Lummis’s proposal is intended to reverse that model: tax only at the point of sale, not on use or reception.

Michael Saylor, founder of Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy), the leading pioneer in BTC Corporate Treasury, repeated her attitude and said”

“We have to put an end to unfair taxes on BTC my workers when America becomes the Bitcoin -Suuperkracht of the world.”

In May, Lummis argued for For the dismissal of the BIDen era crypto-tax rules that would force crypto companies to pay taxes, even if they are unprofitable.

For her part, Summer Mersinger, CEO of Blockchain Association, a collective voice for the crypto sector, said”

“By adding the Lummis tax change to the big beautiful bill, the Senate can create more honesty and long-term sustainability in our industry.”
