Decentralized shift in AI access
Antseed launched a decentralized marketplace on May 15 that connects artificial intelligence (AI) consumers directly to model providers, removing the centralized middlemen that dominate the current AI access ecosystem.
The platform offers an alternative to AI aggregators like Openrouter, which list models, route all traffic through their own servers, and hold the provider’s revenue until payout. Instead, AntSeed allows buyers to discover providers directly, send peer-to-peer requests, and settle payments instantly $USDC to a provider’s wallet.
According to a media statement, the network requires no accounts, no API keys and no approval process or central point of control.
“OpenRouter and similar aggregators have helped define the market for unified AI access, but that market doesn’t have to remain centralized,” said Shahaf Antwarg, co-founder of Antseed. “AntSeed offers AI consumers and providers a direct, peer-to-peer alternative where access, reputation and payments are coordinated by the network rather than a single platform.”
Discovery on Antseed uses the same peer-to-peer protocol that powers Bittorrent, eliminating dependency on a central server. All transactions are recorded on-chain, making track records public, portable and tamper-proof.
The network supports the same API format used by OpenAI and Anthropic, allowing tools like Claude Code and Cursor to connect by changing a single setting. Non-technical users can access the marketplace via Antseed’s desktop client Antstation.
At launch, Antseed will include 20 providers offering groundbreaking models such as GPT and Claude Opus, as well as open source systems including Kimi and GLM. The company says it won’t add a platform fee to carrier prices.
One of the first providers is a Venice inference pool, hosted at diem.antseed.com. DIEM holders can stake tokens in a smart contract on Base, with the pooled DIEM enabling Venice’s AI inference across the entire network. Users pay $USDC per request, and payments flow back to the stakers in real time.
“DIEM is designed to make AI access something that users can truly own, not rent,” said Erik Voorhees, founder of Venice.ai. “Extending it to a permissionless network like AntSeed is exactly the kind of open ecosystem we hoped DIEM would help unlock.”
Antseed’s architecture is designed to support autonomous AI agents that need to execute transactions independently. The company says the network is structured to allow next-generation agents to operate without centralized authorization.
