Immutable announces in-game signature feature for Web3 games

Blockchain protocol Immutable has introduced a new feature to simplify the gaming experience for players in Web3 by allowing in-game transactions. In an announcement on November 11, Immutable said Web3 games were experiencing disruptions as players often had to approve transactions or interact with wallets outside of games. The new Pre-Approved Transactions feature allows developers to integrate transaction approvals directly into the game interface.

In 2023, Immutable launched its Passport wallet framework with login methods from Google and Apple. According to the Web3 Gaming Project, this feature allows users to create and restore crypto wallets using their Google or Apple accounts, or an email address. With the newly announced feature, the company says it has eliminated the need for signing and confirmation outside of the game. According to Immutable, Web3 games should “feel like traditional games,” immersive and uninterrupted. The Pre-approved Transactions feature allows gamers to seamlessly trade items, purchase from marketplaces, or create new in-game assets.

The protocol states that the implementation process requires minimal technical overhead and is simple, adding that developers have control over the transaction interface, allowing them to match the look and feel of the game. While the feature improves player experience in the Immutable Ecosystem, it only works with assets released by the game. According to the protocol, this ensures that it is in a controlled and safe environment. However, there are plans to expand the feature to support IMX, USD Coin and Ether.
