British judge rules that Craig Wright is neither Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto nor the author of the BTC white paper

A British judge rules that Australian computer scientist Craig Wright is not Satoshi Nakamoto, the anonymous creator of Bitcoin (BTC), nor the author of the BTC White Paper.

According to BitMEX Research, the Cryptocurrency Open Patent Alliance (COPA) – a non-profit crypto advocacy group – has recently won his case against Wright, who for years claimed to be the pseudonymous creator of BTC.

The judge in the case said there is “overwhelming evidence” that Wright is not Satoshi. As the judge stated,

“For the reasons which will be set out in due course in that written judgment, I shall make certain representations which I am satisfied are useful and necessary to do justice between the parties.

First, that Dr. Wright is NOT the author of the Bitcoin White Paper. Secondly, Dr. Wright NOT the person who adopted or operated under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto during the period 2008 to 2011.

Third, Dr. Wright NOT the person who created the Bitcoin system. And fourth, he is NOT the author of the early versions of the Bitcoin software.”

COPA has one rack after the win, saying that Wright and his backers can no longer bully the BTC community to claim he holds the copyright to the Bitcoin White Paper, the original dissertation written by Satoshi in 2008.

“This decision is a victory for developers, for the entire open source community and for the truth. For more than eight years, Dr. Wright and his backers lied about his identity as Satoshi Nakamoto and used that lie to bully and intimidate developers in the Bitcoin community.

That ends today with the court ruling that Craig Wright is not Satoshi Nakamoto.”
