Bitcoin Ordinals’ latest proposal could mean this for the subscription limit

  • The recursive inscriptions would allow for more storage space and on-chain video games.
  • Ordinal fees remained stagnant despite the increase in enrollment.

Bitcoin Ordinals have attempted to break through the conventional restrictions of subscriptions with a recent proposal. Leonidas.og, one of the pseudonymous developers of Ordinals, said this in a tweet where he explained what the new artifacts called “recursive inscriptions” intended to accomplish.

WTF are recursive inscriptions?

Here’s everything you need to know:

Earlier this year, the Ordinals Protocol introduced the ability for anyone to subscribe files to Bitcoin completely on-chain. These inscriptions are self-contained and unaware of the other files that were… pic.twitter.com/O3jt6lhaxT

Realistic or not, here it is BTC’s market cap in ETH terms

More storage space and the chance to…

Expanding on the proposal, the developer noted that the new approximation would allow better customization and use cases for the Bitcoin Ordinals project. Currently, Ordinals allow Subscriptions with bandwidth less than 4 MegaBytes (MB).

So whether text, audio or video, packets of enrolled codes were not allowed to exceed that limit. But with the recursive upgrade, Leonidas said:

“So now there’s a huge repository of packages that developers can build on. This would unlock powerful use cases that could never be done in less than 4MB.”

In particular, the introduction of Ordinals laid the groundwork for the development of the BRC-20 token standard. This has further evolved to BRC-721.

unlike BRC-20 enabling fungible token creation, BRC-721 and 721E became Ethereum’s [ETH] ERC-721 NFTs in Bitcoin tradable assets. More so, the idea of recursive inscriptions is similar to the Bitcoin NFT standard.

Sidechains to transport Ethereum to Bitcoin

Interestingly, AMBCrypto had the opportunity to talk to Bob Bodily about the development. Bodily, who is the CEO of Toniq and leads the development of Ordinals marketplace Bioniq said that,

“BRC-721E uses meta-protocol and smart contracts, which act as sidechains to ensure the seamless movement of Ethereum NFTs to Bitcoin.”

Leonidas further mentioned in his tweet that the eventual deployment of recursive inscriptions would make it possible to have 3D videos on the Bitcoin network. He pointed out,

“Now it becomes possible to run a complex 3D video game completely on-chain on Bitcoin. The sky is the limit. Bitcoin essentially gets an internal internet where any file can request data from the other files on Bitcoin.

Take a look at Ord.io revealed that some 3D games were already live. But from Dune Analytics dashboardBitcoin Ordinals growth has not happened yet replicated the increase it had earlier in the year.

How many Worth 1,10,100 BTCs today?

Although the daily number of registrations rose to 174,677 on June 11, the fees generated were not accompanied by an increase.

At the time of writing, the total number of registrations since its inception was 11.68 million. However, the total fees generated amounted to 1702 BTC.

Meanwhile, Leonidas did not emphasize that the users would be able to access the recovery entries on other marketplaces such as Ordinals alpha explorer.
