Aori expands into rootstocks and bridges Bitcoin DeFi with cross-chain liquidity

Aori has officially joined Rootstock in a major collaboration, opening new avenues for cross-chain liquidity and improving access to Bitcoin-native financial applications. The development of Bitcoin-based decentralized finance is gaining ground, adding new infrastructure to connect isolated blockchain ecosystems.

A faster, easier way to move assets between chains🔥@aori_io is now live on Rootstock.

The intent settlement protocol brings cross-chain liquidity routing to Bitcoin DeFi, allowing users to move assets across networks without the usual multi-step bridging process.

This integration brings Aori’s intent-based settlement model to Rootstock’s ecosystem, allowing users to transfer assets across blockchains with increased efficiency. The initial support will be USDT0, while other assets such as rBTC will become available soon.

By integrating Rootstock’s Bitcoin-secured infrastructure and Aori’s liquidity routing system, the partnership will facilitate the process of user interaction with decentralized finance on networks.

Simplifying cross-chain transactions with intent-based trading

The difficulty in transferring assets between blockchains is one of the historical problems of decentralized finance. Conventional cross-chain operations allow users to manually bridge tokens, interact with different platforms, and perform various transactions, all of which can involve fees and risks.

Aori is a solution to this problem by using an intent-based system. Instead of trading step by step, users can simply specify the desired outcome, for example the transfer of assets through one chain to another. The execution then happens behind the scenes by the protocol.

Solvets are a series of liquidity providers that power this process. These players compete with each other to satisfy users’ needs by acquiring liquidity and identifying the most efficient path to execute them. Once matched, the on-chain transactions are settled using smart contracts created to provide atomic and secure settlement.

The result is a smooth process that reduces friction, minimizes costs, improves the speed of transactions and maintains a structure of trust.

Why rootstocks strengthen integration

Rootstock is a key player in this partnership because it extends Bitcoin’s functions beyond just value transfers. Being a smart contract platform secured by the Bitcoin network, it allows for a wide range of decentralized apps such as credit markets and trading platforms.

Adding Aori enriches Rootstock’s functionality with the powerful cross-chain liquidity layer. Rootstock users can now access the liquidity of networks such as Ethereum and Layer 2 ecosystems without resorting to traditional bridging options.

Meanwhile, Aori users have direct access to DeFi capabilities backed by Bitcoin. This forms a two-way value bridge, connecting previously disaggregated liquidity pools and allowing the transfer of capital between ecosystems more freely.

Benefits for users and developers

The integration offers clear benefits for users and developers working in the decentralized finance environment.

Rootstock can be a bridge to Bitcoin-based DeFi strategies for users already using Aori. They can now engage in credit, trading and yield opportunities based on Bitcoin’s secured infrastructure without leaving the multi-chain environment they know well.

The benefits are also significant for Rootstock users. Aori also provides an easier method to move assets between chains without the need for many manual processes. Transactions are faster and cheaper and access to external liquidity improves overall capital efficiency.

The integration is also beneficial for developers. Aori’s infrastructure allows them to add cross-chain trading and liquidity routing to their apps without necessarily developing complex bridging systems. This reduces the development barrier and innovations take place quickly in the ecosystem.

Addressing liquidity fragmentation in DeFi

Liquidity fragmentation remains a key challenge in decentralized finance, where assets are typically locked into different blockchain networks. This limits trading efficiency and access to broader financial opportunities.

Aori’s proposed solution to this problem is to orchestrate cross-chain liquidity and enable atomic settlement via smart contracts. The solution network is based on the idea of directing capital to where it is needed, rather than the method of fragmented bridges.

In the case of Rootstock, this implies improved access to vibrant ecosystems, as well as deeper sources of liquidity. As a result, users can implement more advanced financial strategies without sacrificing security or efficiency.
