Kraken, a popular cryptocurrency exchange, has announced that it will be closing withdrawals for seven crypto assets held by its customers in the United Arab Emirates. The withdrawals will be closed at 14:00 UTC on Monday, Sept. 14, leaving remaining balances subject to liquidation by the exchange. The scheduled liquidation sales are set to take place from Sept. 15 to 25, 2026, and Kraken has not guaranteed the currency that customers will receive from the liquidation.
The crypto assets affected by this withdrawal closure in the UAE include Monero (XMR), Zcash (ZEC), Dash (DASH), USDD, Dai (DAI), USDS, and Ethena USD (USDE). This restriction applies specifically to clients residing in the UAE.
According to Kraken’s status notice, withdrawals will be available until 13:59 UTC on Sept. 14, after which they will be disabled at 14:00 UTC. Customers who still hold these assets on the platform are advised to withdraw them before the cutoff time to avoid having their balances liquidated by the exchange.
It is important to note that there is no extra time given between the withdrawal deadline and the liquidation window. Once withdrawals are closed, any remaining balances of the affected assets on Kraken will be subject to the exchange’s timetable for liquidation, with no specific timing provided for individual customer holdings.
Kraken has stated that the denomination of the liquidation proceeds will be determined by prevailing market conditions. The exchange cannot guarantee or confirm the currency that customers will receive from the liquidation sale in advance. Customers who leave their affected holdings on the exchange will not have a confirmed proceeds currency before the sale.
The uncertainty surrounding the denomination of the liquidation proceeds is separate from the withdrawal restriction. While the notices set a clear cutoff for moving out the original assets, the denomination of the resulting proceeds remains unresolved.
The decision to close withdrawals for these seven assets in the UAE follows an announcement made by Kraken more than three months prior. The exchange published a status notice on June 1, 2026, outlining the delisting process for these assets. The withdrawal and liquidation stages scheduled for September are part of the previously announced cycle.
Kraken attributes the delisting cycle to its regular asset reviews. The restrictions apply specifically to UAE-resident customers and do not constitute a nationwide ban on the seven assets. The upcoming deadline is specific to affected balances held on Kraken.
