Nyan Heroes, the Solana-based feline mech shooter, reported Friday that it has amassed more than 100,000 players who have downloaded and played the game since its pre-alpha demo launched on the Epic Games Store on March 25.
“The Nyan Heroes pre-alpha demo has been in full swing for 10 days and we have absolutely loved the reception it has received,” developer 9 Lives Interactive said in a Medium post.
With less than a week to go until the end of the pre-alpha demo on April 9, Nyan Heroes announced plans on Friday to offer leaderboard rewards to the demo’s top players, including Nyan Heroes Genesis Guardian NFTs and additional MEOW points towards the upcoming airdrop of the game’s NYAN token.
According to Nyan Heroes, the top three players will receive a Legendary Genesis Nyan NFT, an Ultrarare Genesis NFT, and a Rare Genesis Nyan NFT respectively. Players ranked fourth through tenth will receive a Genesis Nyan NFT, while players ranked eleventh through twentieth will each receive a Genesis Guardian NFT.

“The leaderboard ranking is determined by the total number of wins during the pre-alpha demo. The more wins you get, the higher your position on the leaderboard will be,” according to 9 Lives Interactive.
According to the Medium post, the top 100 players will be shown on the leaderboard. Players who are not currently in the top 100, according to 9 Lives Interactive, can find their rank at the bottom of the list with their username.
“Climb with every victory! While the top 100 heroes are spotlighted, each player’s rank and username will be honored,” 9 Lives Interactive added on Twitter. “Tied victories? You’ll score the higher level rewards! In addition, your MEOW points increase with each victory on the leaderboard.”
For example, if rank 500 and 501 have the same number of wins, rank 501 will receive the same reward as rank 500. Nyan Heroes said that any MEOW rewards earned from the Ranked Boost will be added to a player’s point total before any account is taken taken into account the multiplier. Ultimately, the top 7,500 players all receive some kind of MEOW points bonus.
In January, Nyan Heroes said that players who own a Nyan Heroes or Guardians NFT will earn additional rewards. Last weekend, 9 Lives Interactive offered double the amount of MEOW points during its play-to-airdrop campaign in a special, limited-time promo. The NYAN token is expected to launch on Solana sometime after the conclusion of the play-to-airdrop campaign.
