Cardano fuels Brazil’s Olympic technology push with blockchain and AI

The Cardano Foundation is working with the Brazilian Olympic Committee to test blockchain, artificial intelligence and Internet of Things tools in Brazilian sports.

The Brazilian Olympic Committee said the agreement will explore emerging technologies for sports management, transparency and efficiency. The work will focus on practical tools for athletes, coaches, federations and fans.

The partners plan a three-year roadmap, structured around four areas. These include digital identity and certification, fan engagement, equipment tracking and governance, and transparency in funding programs.

Lead pilots for digital identity and device tracking

The plan includes secure digital identities for athletes and coaches. These identities could support globally verifiable certifications and reduce the number of paper records in sports programs.

Big news: we’ve partnered with the Brazilian Olympic Committee (@timebrasil) to transform Olympic sport with public blockchain, IoT and AI.

The three-year roadmap aims to position COB as the global benchmark in sports innovation.

The roadmap also includes intelligent tracking of sports equipment via trusted digital data. COB said relevant processes can use permanent, auditable and verifiable data to improve information security and day-to-day operations.

Additionally, the Cardano Foundation said its first executive workshop took place last week. Institutional pilots are expected to follow as the partnership moves from planning to applied testing.

Emanuel Rego, director general of COB, said the agreement goes beyond just technical upgrades. He said COB wants to “lead by example” and use innovation to strengthen trust among athletes, federations and society.

COB Technology Manager Marcelo Santos said the partnership puts COB at the forefront of digital transformation in sports. Rafael Fraga, the Cardano Foundation’s manager in Latin America, said the group was eager to share its next steps.

Brazil will be an important Cardano test market

The COB partnership adds to Cardano’s broader momentum in Brazil. As previously reported by crypto.news, the Cardano Foundation partnered with SERPRO, the Brazilian state’s IT provider, to support blockchain education and use in the public sector.

The Foundation also announced in May a partnership with the University of Brasilia to launch the first Cardano Project Development Lab in Latin America. That program focuses on blockchain, AI, IoT, digital identity, governance and public sector instruments.

For COB, the agreement gives a national sports organization the opportunity to test public blockchain tools in daily administration. Initial pilots will show whether these systems can improve record keeping, trust, fan links and internal controls.

For Cardano, the deal puts its technology into a non-financial use related to sports. The partnership does not include a token launch or instant payment product. It focuses on documents, identity, transparency and education.

The announcement did not mention specific sports, athletes or pilot dates. COB said the first projects should be developed in the coming months following initial workshop discussions.
