According to judicial documents, the scheme generated more than $ 17 million for the North Korean government. Some of the victims even include Fortune 500 companies.
Assistant -Director RozhavSky of the Contre -Intelligence Division of the FBI warns against the reality of where North Korean hacked funds go:
“The Noord -Korean regime has generated millions of dollars for its nuclear weapon program by the victim of American citizens, companies and financial institutions.
Even an opponent who is as refined as the Noord -Korean government cannot succeed without the help of willing American citizens such as Christina Chapman, who was today convicted of her role in an extensive arrangement to cheat more than 300 American companies by helping North Korean IT employees get virtual work and the money they deserved.
Today’s conviction shows that the FBI will work tirelessly with our partners to defend the home country and to keep it responsible that help our opponents. “
