Sovereign Nature Initiative, a unique NGO dedicated to the research and conservation of marine life, has announced an exclusive partnership. According to the platform, it is joining forces with WalletConnect and Unique Network on Polkadot to officially launch DOTphin. The DOTphin project uses non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to promote environmental conservation, specifically focusing on marine life. The community provided resilient support and approved the venture through Polkadot OpenGov.

DOTphin works as a dynamic eco-linked multi-pass that supports biodiversity recovery. Each pass has an avatar associated with it that takes the form of a non-fungible token. It is reportedly evolving through various digital and physical events while supporting sustainability and community engagement in the Polkadot ecosystem. DOTphin’s official release begins with the distribution of eco badges to Polkadot Decoded 2024 participants on the 11the of July.
These act as keys to claim exclusive non-fungible DOTphin tokens. People with EthCC tickets can reportedly claim free Decoded tickets along with the initial POAP. POAP will offer a multi-month, multi-event venture in support of marine conservation efforts. Although DOTphin pays a lot of attention to sustainability, the project is in line with Polkadot’s references. It is a green blockchain with a low carbon footprint.
