Linea now covers Layer-2 gas costs for Ethereum bridges, although the offer excludes USDC transfers, high gas transactions and does not issue layers-1 costs.
Blockchain Network Linea now covers Layer-2 gas costs for users bridging assets from Ethereum (ETH) MAINNET, with the aim of making onboarding faster and easier. In an X -post on 7 May, Linea noted that the new offer only applies to its native bridge and is supplied with a few limits, although the team says that it is part of a wider push to reduce friction for new users.
Bridges to Linea van Ethereum is now free.
Use our native bridge.
We cover the L2 costs.
No statement, no gambling gas.

Linea is a zero-knowledge-layer-2 network built on Ethereum and developed by Consensys, the company behind Metamask, Infura and other Ethereum tools. The network is designed to help developers Ethereum apps scales with lower costs and faster transactions.
The distance declaration of the gas costs only applies to Ethereum-to-Linea transfers using Linea’s own bridge. Moreover, the Linea team mentioned a few things to keep in mind: it only covers Layer-1 on Layer-2 transactions, does not apply to everything that uses more than 250,000 gas, and it does not include USD Coin (USDC) transfers via Circle’s CCTP, and adds that users still have to pay for the Ethereum MAINNET itself.

That means that users still have to pay for the Ethereum -Minnet gas – often about $ 2 to $ 20, depending on the network congestion. And the 250,000 gas hood means that the covered layer-2 allowance is up to around $ 20- $ 45, based on typical rates.
At the beginning of April, Linea’s product head said that the team decided to wait for a more bullish crypto market before he continued with his token launch. A month earlier, the then marketing leader Christopher Kocurek told the Discord Community that Consensys Managers and the board strived for a tokenteration event in the second quarter of 2025. Since then, Kocurek has left Linea to participate in a startup at an early stage and there is no further update of the TGE.
