A closely watched crypto analyst lists six key events that could trigger the next big step forward for altcoins.
In a new YouTube update, the host of InvestAnswers presents six potential catalysts that could cause altcoins to explode in 2025.
“These are the top six items that I believe are crucial for kicking off the so-called alt season. What happens primarily is you should see a big, big, big spike in Bitcoin, and then people take profits and turn into alts. I’ll emphasize this again: this is what has happened in the past, I’m not sure it’s going to happen this year.
Remember, Bitcoin is a much bigger asset, it costs a lot more money to move it, and you can see the number of purchases by iBit and MicroStrategy – almost a million Bitcoin in 11 months. It’s crazy… It’s pretty crazy how much growth there is and how much these companies are sucking in.
So this time it’s a different cycle, that’s what I want to emphasize. But historically, if Bitcoin were to peak at $150,000, there are people who would take profits and then load into the alts.”
In addition to Bitcoin’s (BTC) moves, the analyst says new technology and product releases could also fuel an altcoin rally.
“Next we need a major new technical release, for example Fire Dancer from Solana. We need a new ETF, and I don’t know which ETF will come first. There is a lot of talk about the Solana ETF taking the top spot because it is the number one cryptocurrency in the world, despite what other people will say.
It’s where two-thirds of all transactions occur from 40,000 cryptos, so you can use that data however you want. But with the new administration in the US, there could also be in-kind and commitment opportunities. We just showed the power of betting on SOL strategies and running validators.
Imagine the ETF is in-kind, where you deposit your Solana, you don’t have to switch to fiat first, and then withdraw your Solana. That will be powerful, and then you will get strike benefits.”
Finally, the host of InvestAnswers suggests that adoption breeds adoption.
“We also need more adoption. We need to reach 100 million daily active users to use something like Fire Dancer, and when we do, we’ll all succeed. The crypto market cap is going to 10 trillion pretty quickly. We need regulation to support all of this, especially the alts. Right now we don’t have that, and we need something new [to] break, like a great partnership…
That’s my opinion, and I believe it will happen in the second or third quarter of 2025. So we have six to nine months, but remember, predicting things in the short term is very difficult. But I think the summer of 2025 – wear your seat belts – could be a fun time.”
