Freename is building the world’s first united internet, where a domain name acts as the Universal Access key About Web2 and Web3 tools.
Zurich, Switzerland – July 23, 2025 -Freename, a leading domain registrar that bridges DNS and Blockchain technologies, has today announced the closure of a series A -Finance Round of $ 6.5 million. The new capital will stimulate product innovation, expand the global footprint of Freename, further unite web2 and web3 ecosystems for digital identity and not only enable traditional IP addresses, but also on regulated porter addresses.
The round was led by Entrée Capital with the participation of Polymorf Capital, as well as continuous support from seed investors Sparkle Ventures, Blockchain Founders Fund and Golden Record Ventures. Remarkable new angel investors came to De Ronde, including Mike Lobanov (co-founder of Target Global), Rashwan Family Office and Aaron Schnarch (former CEO of Coinbase Custody).
With nearly six billion people on the internet, and use up to 20% for web3 or decentralized purposes, there must be a bridge between the old and new online worlds. The number of Web3 portfolios has already surpassed the total number of registered domain names and the rapid acceptance of blockchain is expected to expand this further in the following decade. Freename builds the technology and infrastructure on those problems that are accompanied by the closing of this gap, including the repair of IP and wallet addresses, the solving of collisions and blockchain measuring data.
Freename redefines the domain space by combining traditional DNS infrastructure with Web3 options, so that portfolios can have native interaction with websites, services and digital identities. As decentralized systems become more prominent, Freename offers a new paradigm for domains, where names are not only readable, but also programmable, functional and secured about block chains.
“In Web2, domains are static; they point to servers. In web3 they become dynamic, point to portfolios, smart contracts and reputations in the chain. That shift unlocks a completely new layer of digital identity.” said Davide Vicini, CEO and co-founder of Freename. “Freename is building the basis for a uniform internet, where possessing a domain means that you have your online identity in both traditional and decentralized infrastructures.”
Freename enables private individuals, companies and communities to create and earn customized domains (TLDs), to open new income flows through domain sales on the second level. The own DNS technology provides compatibility in large blockchain networks, including polygon, solana, basic and BNB chain, while it remains accessible from standard browsers such as chrome and safari.
The most important innovations include a collision management system that dissolves identical domain names in all large block chains and web3 registrars, and its own resolution protocol with a license for traditional DNS -providers that ensures seamless interoperability between web2 and web3 name systems.
“Freename is again defined how digital identities are managed and monetized in the web3 era and in the future,” said Avi Eyal, managing partner at Entrée Capital. “Freename’s multi-chain approach and strong regulatory attitude make the company real category leaders. We are proud to support their next phase of growth. In combination with their support for existing traditional domains and new products that will soon be released, we think they are the next generation of domain name providers.”
“Freename was born of the conviction that the next era of the Internet requires a uniform, interoperable identity layer,” added Mattia Martone, COO and co-founder of Freename. “We not only create a new asset class, we enable everyone to participate in building a decentralized internet where domains act as safe, digital passports with multiple chains. This financing speeds up our mission to scale that vision worldwide.”
In just three years, Freename has quickly established itself as a leader in the domain space aimed at a total addressable market of $ 141 billion. It has launched the world’s first on-chain DNs that can be read by traditional browsers such as Safari and Chrome, an important step towards mainstream web3 adoption, and became the first web3 domain registrar that has obtained an Icann registration license, whereby the possibility is to sell traditional domes.
