The Digital Resonance panel at The Gateway: Korea, presented by Beatport and Polkadot, began with an insightful, informal discussion about each speaker’s background. Latasja, the moderator, asked questions ranging from the music industry, Web3, diversity and equality in Web3, and much more. Other panelists included Björn Wagner from Polkadot, Finn Martin from Beatport.io, Matt Medved from nft now and Mischa Fanghaenel from NACHTS. The session featured a rich mix of perspectives from the five different speakers.
During the panel discussion, the panelists delved deeper into Web3’s transformative impact on the music industry. Finn Martin expressed his ambitions for the Beatport.io platform. Martin says his vision revolves around the music industry, making it fairer and more accessible. His dream is to provide fans with an enriched experience, bridging the gap and providing a platform for fans to forge deeper connections with their favorite artists. He says the music fan experience should be more accessible and seamless, without the technical hurdles.

Medved brought a fresh look to the Web3 space. He shared insights from electronic music producer 3LAU and discussed how artists can use NFT technology to locate their core fans and offer them exclusive show invites. This approach could revolutionize the way artists interact with their supporters, eliminating traditional gatekeepers in the process.
The conversation moved smoothly to the innovation within industries, such as the world of photography. Latasha turned the spotlight on photographer and panelist Mischa Fanghaenel and his work in the field. She also called out pioneers like Justin Aversano and Diana Sinclair. She emphasized their instrumental role in reforming and pioneering the domain.
As the discussion turned to the business side of creativity, Björn Wagner offered a unique perspective on economic downturn. Wagner admitted that while bear markets are risky and far from ideal, they are also fertile ground for innovation. Drawing on history, Martin noted that some of the most successful companies have emerged during economic downturns.
Martin also shared some alpha, revealing that Beatport has partnered with one of the world’s most influential electronic dance artists, to be announced soon. The details of this collaboration remain shrouded in mystery and aroused anticipation in the public.
The theme of diversity was central to the panel. Latasha asked the panelists for their thoughts on the matter. Artist Mischa Fanghaenel responded passionately, stating that the pursuit of diversity was the driving force behind his foray into art. Medved echoed these sentiments, noting that the Web3 space sometimes seems “too white, too masculine, and too straightforward.” He emphasized that now, as a media entity, nft has a responsibility to empower diverse artists and creators. According to him, it is absolutely necessary to realize this ideal every day.
Martin adds that for Beatport.io, he and his team are also on a mission to highlight diversity and empower creators and collectives that are often overlooked. He adds that Beatport.io is currently showcasing the work of the LGBTQ+ collective HeSheThey. The work shows 3D scans of the performers in the style of a Renaissance painting.
Each speaker, drawn from a variety of fields, brought a wealth of knowledge and perspective to the table, making the Digital Resonance panel not only enlightening. It was a testament not only to the power of diverse thinking, but also to the importance of leaders advocating for it in Web3.
