As revealed, Soneium’s vision is to “realize the open internet that transcends borders.” Chainlink, a leading oracle network providing blockchain solutions, is well positioned to help Soneium realize its vision. Chainlink has established partnerships with many industry leaders, such as Swift, Paxos, ANZ and DTCC.
If named in our previous article, Chainlink recently reached a new milestone, with 10 new integrations of four services across 12 chains. These integrations and partnerships have given Chainlink the diversity and experience needed to help Soneium achieve its goals.
The Soneium Genesis
Sony Block Solutions Labs created Soneium as a Ethereum Next generation L2 protocol. The new solution will leverage the tech giant’s global distribution network to introduce blockchain technology to users around the world.
The blockchain aims to arouse feelings, stimulate creativity and connect the Web3 ecosystem with the traditional Web2. Sony built Soneium based on the idea that blockchain technology should be easily accessible, extensible, effective, and able to address real-world problems.
Soneium is designed to be versatile and provide developers, makers, and communities with a robust environment, supported by scalable technology. Users can expect Soneium developers to create innovative applications and competitive features within the Ethereum Layer 2 ecosystem. They can also anticipate a unique combination of gaming, entertainment, finance and other opportunities.
In addition to developing Web3 applications, Soneium announced its intention to consider new services related to companies within the Sony Group. By doing this, Soneium hopes to create use cases that may be of interest to people who have never used Web3 services before.
Soneium has identified three basic values: emotions, creativity and becoming mainstream. Commenting on the launch of Soneium, Jun Watanabe, Chairman of Sony Block Solutions Labs, said the company will work to develop diverse businesses. He added that the team will also provide innovative use cases to improve user experience through Web3 technology.
Plans for the launch of the Soneium Testnet
Preparations for a testnet launch, which will give developers the first chance to work directly with Soneium, are already in place. Clear instructions for accessing the testnet will be provided in the coming days, ensuring a smooth onboarding process for all interested developers.
After a successful testnet launch, Soneium plans to join Optimism’s Superchain to expand its ecosystem. Then the first developer tools and SDKs will be available, allowing innovators to start building on the L2.
Besides Chainlink, Sony Block Solutions Labs is working with other renowned industry players for its upcoming testnet. These partners include Astar Network, Optimism, Alchemy Platform, Circle and The Graph Protocol.
