Cartesi, a modular blockchain protocol-pioneering application-specific rollups, has just introduced an improved version of his Honeypot Dapp, which increases standards for rolling protection. With a new milestone completed, the protocol is probably mentioned on L2Beat between phase 2 rollups.
Cartesi L2 activates crucial update for security
According to the official statement of the project, Cartesi, a Rollup network of new generation on EVM, sent a huge upgrade to his Honeypot Dapp. For the most part, it contributes to the security of smart contracts of Cartesi and the overall technical architecture.

Now equipped with Cartesi’s permissionless refeed tournaments (PRT) fraud -resistant system, Honeypot reflects the dedication of the project for security, transparency and open development.
Honeypot was first launched on the Ethereum Minet two years ago and described as a “hacking challenge on the basis of the concept of Honeypots” transforms Rollup security tests via an audit and gamified hacker stroke field.
This latest version has been reinforced by PRT, a fraud-resistant system that ensures resistance to Sybil attacks without being dependent on permitted validators or heavy hardware.
Erick de Moura, founder at Cartesi, explains the motivation behind the implementation of the new upgrade and its significance for Ethereum’s L2S -Ecosystem security design:
We do not expect that trust is given – it must be earned. Honeypots allow projects to commit their own money to validate the integrity of their error tests before they ask others to trust them. It is a gradual, transparent path to trustless safety that reflects the values on which this ecosystem is built.
Now that Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin recently emphasized the need for all Laag 2s to adopt fraud-resistant mechanisms, the new Honeypot upgrade of Cartesi is a necessary and important achievement.
Cartesi ready to be included in phase 2 category on L2Beat
A leading open-source analysis platform for Layer-2 Solutions, L2Beat evaluates projects based on evidence systems that verify Rollup data for safe Ethereum settlement.
Considered an important benchmark of the industry for Rollup decentralization and security, is currently reconsidering L2 projects based on their progress in the direction of fully operational fraud-resistant systems.
With its fully permissionless fraud -resistant system that is not dependent on a gated multisig for interventions, Honeypot will probably be immediately recategorized as phase 2, the final phase in which rollups are fully managed by smart contracts.
