Blockchain researcher Zachxbt has raised alarms over sleeping XRP addresses linked to Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen. These addresses, which had been inactive for six to seven years, suddenly came to life in January 2025 and transferred more than $ 109 million to XRP to exchange. With XRP that is currently valued at $ 2.60, the portfolios still contain 2.7 billion XRP, worth around $ 7.18 billion.
Larsen’s XRP companies have long been a topic of speculation. At the beginning of 2024 it was reported that Larsen lost access to 213 million XRP, with a value of around $ 112 million, due to a hack. Nevertheless, the remaining sleeping addresses that are linked to him continue to hold an enormous amount of XRP. Zachxbt’s investigation suggests that Larsen can gradually discharge these coins or possibly have lost access to them completely.

Some of the addresses linked to Larsen have been inactive since 2013, which increased the possibility that he had transferred or lost control of the funds at that time. This recent transfer of funds can indicate that Larsen is selling its remaining stock or moved to different portfolios.
This is not the first time that the XRP activities of Larsen have built eyebrows. In September 2020, he moved around 500 million XRP, worth $ 115 million, to an unknown wallet, which fed further speculation about his control over these interests.
Although it is unclear whether Larsen is still arranging these large XRP companies, the recent activity has been concerned about the potential impact of the market. If these coins are sold gradually, this can influence the price and market dynamics of XRP.
