- Arbitrum has added support for ERC-8004, the Ethereum standard that makes on-chain autonomous agents verifiable and reliable.
- The network says builders who couple the new standard with the credible neutral platform and deep liquidity can quickly grow the agentic economy.
Arbitrum has become the latest blockchain in the Ethereum ecosystem to support ERC-8004, Ethereum’s proposed standard for a universal trust layer for autonomous AI agents.
Arbitrum enables ERC-8004
The project announced Thursday that ERC-8004 is now enabled on the network, giving AI agents an on-chain identity, verifiable reputation, and cross-platform discovery. “Combined with Arbitrum’s deep liquidity and credible neutral platform, builders can deliver trusted AI agents and grow the open agentic economy,” the report said.

It is the latest initiative in the blockchain sector to focus on artificial intelligence, as the two technologies become increasingly intertwined.
In a new blog this week, a16z crypto, the digital asset arm of leading Silicon Valley VC firm a16z, noted that AI has never needed more crypto than it does now. Because AI generates text, video, and images that are difficult to distinguish from human-made output, crypto increases the cost of impersonation and supports systems for decentralized proof of personhood. It also enables machine-scale payments, supporting an agentic economy that could change the way information and value changes hands globally, a16z crypto added.
Most blockchain networks have made AI integration a priority for 2026. As we reported, Sui has added support for AI agents, while Shiba Inu’s chief ambassador is working on an AI project that goes beyond crypto. Theta Network’s 2026 roadmap is centered around decentralized AI, while ICP aims to make its decentralized cloud solution the ultimate destination for AI projects.
ERC-8004 – Confidential AI Agents on Ethereum
As we first reported last August, the Ethereum Foundation created a new AI team to work on ERC-8004. Last month, the Foundation announced that the new standard would be coming to the mainnet.
ERC-8004 allows AI agents to discover and communicate with each other on-chain without the need for trust. Existing solutions on the market, such as Google’s Agent-to-Agent protocol, require pre-established trust for agent interactions, limiting growth.
The new standard focuses on a fast-growing market. According to a Gartner study, by 2028 at least 25% of major global conglomerates will have a specialized AI workforce that operates autonomously. This agent business will number in the trillions worldwide and will quickly outgrow walled gardens like Google’s A2A protocol.
ERC-8004 gives Ethereum a big lead in the AI economy. The network is already the largest in the crypto sector and favored by Wall Street. As we reported, three dozen top global organizations are already building the network, committing billions of dollars.
ETH is trading at $1,900 at the moment of pressing as the slip continues and descends 30% over the past week as the market continues to bleed.
